Our Talented Team Members
This section provides a brief overview of the talented professionals on our team.
Shajan Thokar
Head-Chef and Owner

Originally from Nepal, Chef Shajan Thokar—known as Chang—brings over 15 years of culinary experience to Prague. His passion for cooking began at just eight years old, inspired by his father. After earning a degree in Hotel Management from Sikkim Manipal University, he trained across all departments of a 5-star hotel before choosing to specialize in the kitchen.
He’s worked with top international hotel chains including Radisson, Taj, Novotel, JW Marriott, Rotana, and Wyndham, in India and the Middle East. In 2019, he was invited by Chef Jiří Stift to join Sia Restaurant in Prague, where he worked until 2025.
Now, as the founder and Head Chef of Namo Buddha, Chef Chang shares his journey and heritage through his food. His story has been featured in Lidovky.cz, Blesk.cz, and Banger.cz.

Subas GC
Co-founder
Subas is a chef whose journey spans more than a decade and three countries. Originally from Nepal, he began his culinary career in Indian restaurants, where he spent five years mastering traditional Indian flavors, spices, and techniques. This solid foundation led him to Dubai, one of the world’s most competitive culinary markets, where he further developed his skills in high-paced, multicultural kitchens.
After gaining international experience, Subas moved to Prague, where he joined the celebrated Asian fusion restaurant SIA. Over the course of three years, he became a core member of the team, known for his precision and dedication in the open kitchen, especially when preparing SIA’s legendary Kung Pao.
Today, Subas brings his passion, creativity, and discipline to his own venture – Namo Buddha, a modern Asian restaurant located in the heart of Prague. As founder and head chef, he combines his rich experience from Nepal, India, Dubai, and the Czech Republic to create a menu that honors tradition while embracing innovation. Every dish he prepares reflects his belief in honest cooking, bold flavors, and attention to detail.
Though quiet in conversation, Subas communicates loudly through his cuisine. His food tells a story – one of culture, travel, and love for the craft.
